“:Dayung Timungun ” Beauty Queen contest in conjunction with Pesta Berumuh 2009.

The Beauty Queen or “Dayung Timungun” contest will be held on 21 March, 2009 starting at 8.30pm at
Dewan Masyarakat, Serian as part of the many programs organized in conjunction with the Pesta Berumuh
2009 which carries the theme “From the Paddy Field to the Knowledge Farm”. The contest is open to all
single Bidayuh ladies (either parent must be a Bidayuh) age between 17 (school leaver) to 28 years old as
of 21st March, 2009. However, those who have won other state/national beauty contests are not eligible to
join in the contest. The preliminary round to select the 12 finalists will be held on 14 March, 2009
starting at 12pm at Dayak Bidayuh National Association (DBNA) Hq at Jln. Kumpang, Kuching. There is no
entrance fee to the contest and instead all participants will be given a token sum of cash during the
preliminary round. Attractive cash prizes plus trophies and bouquet will be given to the top 3 winners
and 9 other finalists will also be given cash prizes. All finalists will have to put on full traditional
costumes on 21st March, 2009. The organizing committee is inviting all Bidayuh single ladies who meet the
above criteria to join in the contest for the success of the pesta and the community as a whole..
