Brada Bagading;
I have to strongly disagree with you regarding "the culture/habit of blaming". From my observation, we Bidayuh never have this particular culture, neither do we have the Bidayuh crab culture. These are not culture! These are in fact political "talking points", sometime to prick the mind of our Bidayuh folk in the kampung. What can we get out of "assuming" that these political "talking points". Not much, from what I have learned.

As an example, the flood of the recent days affecting some Bidayuh area. Do we blame God? No? Do we blame the angels? No? Do we blame the rain? No? Do we blame the moon? No? Do we plave the rivers? No? Do we blame DID? No? Do we blame Pak Taib? No? Do we blame Datuk Manyin? No? Ahhh, so how now? We didn,t balme anybody.

Now back to your points. You posted "Many a time, others are blamed for what befalls the Bidayuh especially in the political arena. We put the blame on the Chinese, the Malays, the Melanaus or on every other Jack and Jill around us. This trait has been "synonymous" with us the Bidayuh on almost every aspect of our life."

Aiyooo yooo yo yo, that is a very big statement that sounded like real truth! But the real truth is, we are not even sure what were mean by "political arena". When you refer to political arena, it sounded like we are back during Roman time. Do we really fight to death over politic? I do not read the Bidayuh community sentiment as blaming the chinese etc for our lack of political cohesiveness. If you listen very carefully to the grass root politic, you may learn that brothers and sisters, join different political parties for ONE very simple reasons. STATUS. Some join PBB, because they get, "status" and glamour be being AJK at Branch (kampung)level. Others join SUPP, SNAP, PBDS, SPDP, PRS for precisely the same ONE reason. STATUS! The more political parties there are the more divisive the community become. Yet, the structural fault happened to be precisely the structural strength of the state BN. By having so many parties with the BN, the Barisan National is seen to be an inclusive (rather than exclusive) party umbrella.

This political umbrella is in fact a two-edged sword. Your are in BN, so get some benifit. You are out of BN you get the knife in your ass! What choice do we have. We do not blame BN. What is really happening now, just like every other things is that BN is becoming very unwieldy, rotten to the core, a beast that is beginning to look more like becoming a political dinosour. 40 years of state BN, has become mouldy. Time for a
rethink. Merge the parties into THREE; namely
Melanau/Malay party, Dayak party and Chinese party, under a rotating chiefministership like in Sabah. This may be worth looking at!

Our kampung people are not intellectually endow with this thing you called 'self introspection'. How to have self-introspection, when they are struggling with daily survival, "kais pagi makan pagi". Amongst the highly-educated lot of our Bidayuh brethen, they are not very much wanted by the dead woods in PBB, SUPP, SNAP, PBDS, SPDP, PRS. Precisely, because the dead wood will surely lose their "status and glamour".

If we are using Jab to influence other Bidayuh, it is not on contentious matter. No one is trying to brain wash anybody in Jab. We just jab, jab and jab and wait patiently for the big right Lenox Lewis upper cut. If others should dance to our tune, well that should be fine. If others stand, flat-footed, like Mike Tyson, then, surely Lewis, will let go the big whooping right. Then it is goodnight Bad Mike!

Aiyah you ini Brad Bagading, you are not explaining yourself sufficiently. I mean you posted "Being clever, intelegent and wise is!". Adoi, big word. You are serving us huge appeticing lobsters, with all the garnishing, but unfortunately, they are uncook.

Who say, we Bidayuh/Dayak are so susceptible to the "break and rule" phenomena engaged by outside elements for their own advantage. Now you are blaming others! It is not others that break and rule us, it is we ourself, who are broken, and wants to be ruled. Kurang caya. When CEng, comes and visit Bau for example, semua orang sana, sembah dia, kiss his hand masam dia Tuhan! Whose fault is that? Pak Taib? Hardly his fault. I can tell you, that deep in his heart he is embarassed, as he know very well that to be treated like a god is berdosa.

If you want real Bidayuh/Dayak unity kick out all the dead woods. Put in fresh blood. Courageous young blood. Put in people who are prepared to put up a big fight. Put up people who are not afraid of failure. After all you yourself say that "We all owe this to our future generations". So why, the ancient generation are unwilling to make way for the future generation then?
